Learn all about the remarkable portraits Vincent painted of the Roulin family. Pick up the free treasure hunt at the information desk, answer the questions, and complete the activities. The treasure hunt is for children aged 6 to 12.

Price

The Yellow House
In May 1888, Vincent van Gogh rented four rooms in a house on Place Lamartine in Arles in the South of France. He had finally found a place where he could not only paint, but also have friends visit and stay overnight. Postman Roulin lived a short distance away with his family.
The top floor of the exhibition is designed to entirely resemble the part of Arles where the Yellow House once stood. You can wander around the area where Vincent lived and worked and participate in all sorts of activities.
Draw a portrait or do a puzzle
Take a seat at one of the drawing tables and draw a portrait of Joseph Roulin or a portrait of someone you know, or perhaps of someone you don’t know. Not into drawing? There are colouring pages of the Roulin family waiting for you. Or grab the puzzle blocks and piece together a member of the Roulin family in the puzzle corner.
Join Joseph and Augustine Roulin for a walk
Every Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Joseph and Augustine visit the museum. You can find them in the Atrium. Will you join them? They have many stories to tell!

Family portrait
Take a photo with your whole family as the Roulins. Would you like to be photographed as Camille, Armand, mother Augustine, baby Marcelle, or perhaps as father Joseph? Wouter Tulp, illustrator of the Little Golden Book Vincent and Camille, has created a photo wall of the entire Roulin family!

Vincent van Gogh didn’t always have it easy in Arles. But fortunately, there were people like Joseph Roulin who supported him.
