Exhibition ‘Van Gogh in Auvers’
Major exhibition about the final months of Vincent van Gogh’s life, which he spent in the French village of Auvers-sur-Oise.
For 50 years and counting, the Van Gogh Museum has been inspiring people with the artworks of Vincent van Gogh (and his contemporaries). In 2023, we celebrate our anniversary. Will you join us?

2 June
On 2 June 2023, it will be exactly 50 years since the museum opened its doors to the public. We are celebrating 50 years of inspiration on Museumplein with a packed programme of activities. Paint like Vincent in the open air, listen to a musical performance or marvel at street theatre. There’s something for everyone!
During this special year, we will be pulling out all the stops with exhibitions that bring you closer to Van Gogh as an artist and a person.
If you’d like to let your inner artist loose, join one of our painting workshops. Do you have the courage to choose your own destiny, like Vincent? What makes the colours in Vincent’s paintings so special? Besides workshops for adults, there are also dedicated workshops for children.
If a laid-back evening with DJs, talks and live performances is more your thing, check out Vincent on Friday. As always, there are also several guided tours to get to know the highlights of the collection. There is a Family Guided Tour available too.
Vincent’s paintings colour your life. His art and take on life are an inspiration to many. There are still plenty of Vincents among us: people who inspire others around them with their talent or passion. Or people who support others through thick and thin.
Many great nominations have been submitted, and the jury has now selected the fifty winners. In May, all winners will receive a Van Gogh Museum Edition.
If you would like an invitation to the party on Museumplein on 2 June 2023, or would like to know how to nominate someone for a special gift from Vincent van Gogh, subscribe for the dedicated ‘50 Years of Inspiration’ newsletter.
