The demonstration has been planned for some time and was moved from Dam Square to Museum Square by the City of Amsterdam on Wednesday, 8 October, due to safety concerns.
As a result, the museum has made its own assessment regarding accessibility to and around the museum and the safety of staff and visitors. The museum will therefore close its doors on Sunday, 12 October and cancel all tickets.
We understand that you were looking forward to visiting our museum, especially in light of our new exhibition Van Gogh and The Roulins. The decision to close the museum was not taken lightly, but the safety of our staff and visitors must come first.
