About the exhibition
The exhibition focuses on the extraordinary friendship between Vincent van Gogh and the Roulin family. Van Gogh painted many portraits of this family: Joseph (the postman) , his wife Augustine, and their children Armand (17), Camille (11), and baby daughter Marcelle.
With these portraits, Van Gogh steps into the tradition of Dutch masters like Rembrandt and Frans Hals. In the tour, you will also learn more about Van Gogh's admiration for these 17th-century painters.
