Objective of the organisation
Our main task is to care for, display, research and expand the collection.
Our focus on Vincent van Gogh and his time makes us unique as a museum. We take the best possible care of the collection so that future generations can enjoy and learn from the art as much as we do, in a manner that suits their time. We see the walls of our museum as porous: we are open and absorb what happens in the world around us.
We are a meeting place where dialogue happens. This is how we give ever more meaning to our collection. We feel the responsibility to lead the way, to push boundaries in our own innovative way. This is how we continue to offer inspiration to our visitors, partners and staff.
Composition of the Board
The foundation is governed by the Board – consisting of the Director, the Managing Director and the Supervisory Board. Management of the foundation is vested in one Director and one Managing Director, under the supervision of the Supervisory Board. The Director serves as Chair of the Board.
The Board manages the foundation and holds final responsibility for the (day-to-day) management and implementation of the foundation’s programmes and activities, in accordance with its objective.
Remuneration policy for the Board and Supervisory Board
The members of the Supervisory Board do not receive remuneration for their work. They are, however, entitled to reimbursement of expenses incurred in the course of their duties.
Remuneration policy for the Directors
The Supervisory Board determines the remuneration and other employment conditions of the Directors. Neither of the Directors receives remuneration that, under the Public and Semi-Public Sector Senior Officials (Standards for Remuneration) Act, is subject to disclosure.
Remuneration policy for staff
The remuneration of Van Gogh Museum staff is in accordance with the salary scales set out in the Collective Labour Agreement for the Independent National Museums.
Report on activities
The report on activities is published in the Annual Report, along with the financial statements.
