Support our ‘Elderly meet Van Gogh. Art makes man’ (‘Kunst Maakt de Mens’) programme and help bring Van Gogh into the lives of vulnerable elderly people. For €300, we can organise an on-location workshop for 15 participants.
The number of elderly people in the Netherlands is gradually rising. An increasing number of senior citizens are becoming isolated or lonely due to physical ailments or the loss of close friends. We believe that offering meaning and facilitating social participation is not solely the responsibility of the social service sector. With the Elderly meet Van Gogh. Art makes man programme, the Van Gogh Museum helps to activate and inspire these elderly people.
Elderly meet Van Gogh. Art makes man
As part of Elderly meet Van Gogh. Art makes man, specially-trained workshop leaders from the museum bring a mobile Van Gogh studio to the elderly people. During the workshop, participants meet Vincent and are encouraged to discover their inner artist. With relative ease, they realise that they are able to create their own art, and can share the experience with each other. Research has indicated that this experience positively impacts the well-being of the participants. Read more about this research on the LKCA website (in Dutch).
