Vincent van Gogh and Naturalism

Vincent van Gogh was a great admirer of the naturalist painters and frequently praised their themes and ways of working in his letters to his brother Theo. Van Gogh gathered together an extensive collection of illustrations showing paintings by these artists, which he studied closely innumerable times and which were a great source of inspiration. A selection of these prints will be shown on the second floor of the Rietveld building. Also on display are a number of works by Van Gogh, in which he reflects everyday life in his own way.
