Rijksmuseum is the largest museum of art and history in the Netherlands. It is best known for its collection of 17th-century Dutch paintings, with 20 works by Rembrandt and other masterpieces by such artists as Johannes Vermeer, Frans Hals and Jan Steen.

The Stedelijk Museum is dedicated to modern and contemporary art and design.

The museum's collection encompasses more than 90,000 objects dating from the 1870s to the present and include painting, sculpture, film and video, installations, works on paper, artists’ books, photographs, graphic design, applied arts and industrial design. Strengths of the visual art collection include De Stijl, Amsterdam School, Bauhaus, German Expressionism, Suprematism, CoBrA, Abstract Expressionism, Pop, Minimalism and Post-Minimalism, Conceptualism and Arte Povera.

Opening hours: daily 10 am - 6 pm, Thursday's: 10 am - 10 pm.

Coster Diamonds

Every year, many visitors come to Coster Diamonds to see its craftsmen at work. During the free tour, which is available in more than 25 different languages, visitors receive a clear explanation of the process of cutting and polishing diamonds.
