26 April 2013: Top pieces return to refurbished Van Gogh Museum on Museumplein
From today, Sunflowers, The bedroom, Irises, Cornfield with crows and The potato eaters are back in the Van Gogh Museum on Museumplein. These and other top pieces are on show during the anniversary exhibition Van Gogh at work marking the reopening of the museum on 1 May.

23 April 2013: AkzoNobel partner for restoration studio Van Gogh Museum
From the reopening of the Van Gogh Museum on 1 May 2013, AkzoNobel will act as a partner for the museum’s restoration studio for a period of three years. Through premium brand Sikkens, AkzoNobel will also be providing the paint for the museum.

Touring exhibition Van Gogh in Paris: New Perspectives attracts 410,000 visitors in Seoul
Until 19 May 2013 the exhibition will be back in Japan in the Municipal Museum of Art in Kyoto before travelling to two more Japanese museums: the Miyagi Museum of Art in Sendai and the Hiroshima Prefectural Museum of Art.

2 April 2013: Van Gogh Museum completed refurbishment
The refurbishment of the Van Gogh Museum on the Museumplein in Amsterdam has now been completed. The museum is starting the fitting out of its as yet empty building with the large jubilee exhibition entitled Van Gogh at work which will herald its re-opening on 1 May 2013.

The Van Gogh Museum has acquired two colour woodcuts, Le Palais de Justice, vu du Pont Notre-Dame (1889) by Auguste Lepère (1849-1918) and Effet de neige (1890-1892) by Henri Guérard (1846-1897).

7 March 2013: Shell partner in 'Van Gogh at work' exhibition at the Van Gogh Museum
Shell Netherlands is a partner in the Van Gogh at work exhibition, which will mark the reopening of the Van Gogh Museum on 1 May 2013. The agreement was sealed by Director of the Van Gogh Museum, Axel Rüger, and Dick Benschop, President-Director of Shell Netherlands.

5 March 2013: Milou Halbesma appointed as Van Gogh Museum’s Public Affairs Section Manager
Milou Halbesma has been appointed as the manager of the Van Gogh Museum’s Public Affairs Section and will begin work on 1 March. She will hold responsibility for several museum departments – Marketing, Communications, Publications, Fundraising & Relationship Management, Visitor Services, The Mesdag Collection and Van Gogh Museum Enterprises – and be part of the museum’s management team.

13 February 2013: Design revealed for the new entrance to the Van Gogh Museum
The new entrance on Museumplein side will create a better connection between the Kurokawa exhibition wing and the Rietveld building and improve the flow of visitors. About half of the €15 million required for the project has been raised.

BankGiro Loterij contributes €4.5 million to a new entrance for the Van Gogh Museum
Yesterday it was announced at the annual Goed Geld Gala event the BankGiro Loterij will be contributing €4.5 million, spread over three years, to the creation of a new entrance building for the Van Gogh Museum.

31 January 2013: Van Gogh Museum appoints new Managing Director
The Supervisory Board of the Van Gogh Museum is delighted to announce the appointment of Adriaan Dönszelmann (1972) as the museum’s new Managing Director. On 1 May, he will succeed Rik van Koetsveld, who has reached retirement age. Dönszelmann will be one of the Van Gogh Museum's two executive directors, along with General Director Axel Rüger.

Marije Vellekoop (b. 1969) has been appointed as the Van Gogh Museum's Head of Collections, Research and Presentation as from 1 January 2013. In this role, she bears ultimate responsibility for the museum's valuable collection, its research activities and its exhibition policy in the Netherlands and worldwide.

4 January 2013: New acquisitions featuring Loïe Fuller
The Van Gogh Museum has enriched its collection with two new acquisitions revolving around the American dancer Loïe Fuller (1862-1928): a colour lithograph by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and an artist’s book written by Roger Marx, with illustrations by Pierre Roche.

New acquisition: 'Apollo slays Python' by Eugène Delacroix
The Van Gogh Museum has enriched its collection by purchasing the oil sketch Apollo slays Python (1850) by Eugène Delacroix (1798-1863).This new acquisition enables us to demonstrate, for the first time, how Delacroix served as an example to Van Gogh and played a key role in the latter’s artistic development. It will be on view in the exhibition Van Gogh at work, with which we will be reopening in May 2013.

5 July 2012: Van Gogh Museum acquires painting by Charles Angrand
The Van Gogh Museum has purchased the painting La Seine, Le Matin (Saint Ouen), made in 1886 by Charles Angrand (1854-1926). This is the first painting by Angrand in the collection and represents a major addition to the small set of Neo-Impressionist works already present in the museum.

22 June 2012: Over 400,000 visitors to Dreams of nature in Van Gogh Museum
An astonishing 413,363 art lovers visited Dreams of nature: Symbolism from Van Gogh to Kandinsky. ‘We were delighted with the enormous amount of interest the exhibition generated, among the Dutch and international public alike. Also with the positive response to this exhibition, the first ever to focus on the symbolist landscape in Europe’, states director Axel Rüger about this show, which was on view in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam from 24 February to 18 June.

21 June 2012: New revelations about Vincent van Gogh in 'Van Gogh: New Findings'
Today, Van Gogh: New Findings, the fourth volume in the Van Gogh Studies series will be presented at the Van Gogh Museum. This publication shows how much we still have to learn about Van Gogh and his art. Researchers at the Van Gogh Museum have found a previously unknown letter by Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890). There are also new clues as to which of Van Gogh's paintings was his last: Tree roots (1890).

10 May 2012: Van Gogh Museum purchases 'Pollard willow' by Vincent van Gogh
For the first time in five years, the Van Gogh Museum has purchased a work by Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890). The watercolour Pollard willow is a major addition to the museum’s collection.

13 April 2012: Sunflowers has been temporarily removed from display for technical examination of discolouration.
From 16 - 20 April, our conservator will investigate what has caused the colour changes in the chrome yellow used by Van Gogh, and whether it is possible to remove the discoloured layer of varnish safely. In addition, a special scanning technique will allow us to study the sketch beneath the paint.

3 April 2012: Google launches new version of its Art Project
Today Google launches a new version of the Google Art Project. In total, web users can now admire high-resolution images of over 30,000 art objects from more than 151 museums in 41 countries worldwide. The Van Gogh Museum has greatly expanded the selection of works in the Art Project.

After lengthy research the Kröller-Müller Museum has another Van Gogh painting to its name: Still life with meadow flowers and roses. The Van Gogh Museum was part of the research team.

13 February 2012: Van Gogh Europe: cooperation between European Van Gogh sites
More than 20 European organisations involved with Vincent van Gogh’s legacy signed a cooperative agreement at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. This was the green light for Van Gogh Europe, an international partnership aimed at enabling collective, high-quality management, preservation, presentation, and development of Vincent van Gogh's legacy.

7 February 2012: BankGiro Lottery sponsors new purchases by Van Gogh Museum
During the 2012 Goed Geld Gala on Monday 6 February, the BankGiro Lottery made its annual announcement of the amount that it will contribute to cultural institutions in the Netherlands, this year from its 2011 lottery revenue. The Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, the Mauritshuis and the Kröller-Müller Museum will collectively receive 7.9 million euros.
